When a company asks why do you want to work for them what's the best response?

The area and the work fascinates me, intrigues me, and excites me. It's like asking a 7-yr old kid why he wants to be a fireman. I feel that way when I think about (fill in the blank).

Because they have a great reputation and you want to be a part of a winning team. Tell them it makes you proud and honorable! :)!

Look at they're website and find their mission statement and use that into your response! Example: the YMCA mission statement "we build strong families and strong communities" so if I was applying for a job with this company I would say something to the extent of... "I've always believed in the Y and how you support the community, I've always enjoyed helping others, and I believe your mission to build strong families and strong communities" now... If your talking about the retail industry think about there products and the service you've been provided in the past hopefully great service and incorporate that in your closing along with there mission statement. Remember - employers wants to hear you talk highly about there company and or products!

Ps... When people here on ask gives you good advice don't be rude and not mark they're answer as "helpful" or at least say thanks!

Good luck!!

I was a career counsellor once and here is what I recommend strongly: do your homework. Research them so you know about them : their history , accomplishments, philosophy, products. Personalize what you say to them": I see you have a great history of successful production. You are a leading producer of x and I am impressed by your general philosophy. I would like to be a part of a company which does x or has done x. Etc. good luck to you
