I think it's the latest food fad for some, although I know some people really do need to avoid gluten. Seems like some people think avoiding gluten will cure all their problems with food, when it's not the gluten that's the problem - it's the fast food burger & fries & sugared pop that comes with a hamburger bun.
Many people believe that it is the changes in wheat in that 75% of all the wheat in the world is not based on Monsanto genetically modified wheat. If you can find products made from non-Monsanto wheat, there doesn't seem to be the same problem. But don't worry, making your diet gluten free won't hurt your health, because the foods you move to are all good for you. Besides, you really don't have to give up anything. There are now gluten-free pastas, breads, and other 'wheat' based products.
Breads and pastas in general aren't very good for you because of all the carbs, and gluten's been known to stunt growth in some people. It's probably good for the people that use that diet, it certainly won't harm them, and that's what really matters when it comes to "fad diets".
Each human body functions uniquely! environment, heredity, activity, age, habits, sleep, exposure to elements, exposure to chemicals, ect. all affect each individual's health differently. For anyone to have an inkling that they are going to make everyone healthier by imposing restrictions on diet is moronic.Even to believe that you somehow have found the "magic" answer to make everyone healthier is so narrow-minded that it is insulting to the universe!
