Get a Van. Those cars are much safer than any other car you might drive.

My standard answer to this answer. Older Volvo. Drive for your first year or your first crash ( we all crash our first cars) then buy the car you want. If you took good care of it you will be able to sell it for almost what you paid. Lock your phone in the trunk when you drive it. Your not that important that anyone needs to reach you every second. Except to your parents who want you to return home safe after each trip.

Smart cars are not so smart. The maker of these cars require the use of premium gas, there goes your milage savings.

my first car was a geo metro 97, very cheap car but when i crashed it @30mph it was completely totalled. Now I have an 04 Mazda 3i loveit best car I ever drove but I have it fully covered with a 100 buck deductible, just whatever you get make sure its fully covered insurance wise unless you got 10, grand lying around your house like its play money.

Nothing new for $10,000 but can get a used Pontiac Vibe (Toyota's Matrix-5 sister car), Cobalt/ Pontiac G5 or 2008-up Malibu. For new go with Chevy Spark and for $50 you can get the Bringgo App to have a Navigation using your smart phone Or can go bigger with the Chevy Sonic or the Cruze; all offer 0% financing now.

Could I get either of those 3 under 10k?

Possible in Canada, depending on the year, mileage, history & shape, and can get even cheaper in the USA.

I have had a 2007 Buick Lucerne CX V6 and have had zero problems with it since I bought it new 6 years ago. Mine only has 38,000 miles on it, but you might find one with a little more miles for less than $10,000. If you want a large, comfortable, smooth car, definitely check this car out, you may find a used one at a Buick dealer.

Get a car that is cheap to maintain, parts are readily available and will not cause your insurance to skyrocket. Oil changes for Mercedes, BMW and Audi can easily cost $120 each. Parts can't be bought from auto zone, only from dealerships which will cost an arm and a leg to replace, and its even more if with labor cost.

Get something domestic, stay away from imports.

I drive a 99 Jeep Wrangler, I got a nice one for $7,000's (that was over 4 years ago, its cheaper to get now), the gas mileage could be better but its easy to maintain, easy to fix and very reliable. Plus having the soft top off, driving down Las Vegas Blvd at night is hard to beat.

A Honda Civic makes an ideal first car. Safe, reliable, and economical to drive and repair. Audi A4 is a beautiful car, but you don't need the expense of fixing it should something go wrong, and it probably will! Plus, a Civic is a cute car that a girl will appreciate--you'll have more to spend on her!

Audi has a reputation for expensive repairs - even a low mileage one . I suggest you stay with a domestic brand - they are way cheaper to fix and buy.

Audi A6 2004-2005 diesel ~ 4000-6000$, Audi A4 Avant, AllRoad, but only with 2.5 cc engine, 2.0 is to small for weight of car, but the best car from audi is A4 from 1998-2000 gas fuel, i know its old and cheap but is the best car ever made by Audi since Audi 80

It all depends on what you mean by "best". An Audi A4 is a fine car, but quite expensive to own and maintain. If you want an attractive, safe, reliable car, look for a used Ford Crown Victoria. If you want a bit of zing in your life, find a Crown Vic police interceptor, preferably a detective's car, or one from a small police department. You can pick one up for 4 to 8 grand, and they're usually in very good condition, because police agencies maintain their cars well. These cars are very rugged, easy to fix, good looking, and they will get up and go, as many a lawbreaker has found out. Note to your parents: The Vic is a big, solid car, very safe to operate. Fuel economy is surprisingly good, especially on the open road. Mid 20's is not uncommon.
