Timeshare is considered to be quite a good investment and the benefits that come with it as well. You also get to enjoy a given piece of property which may either be on lease or under partial ownership.
We bought into a timeshare , we are not locked down to one place . We can use it at anytime , as long as there is availability . This time share covers a least two vacation a year . But , we travel more then this so we still pull money out of pocket for travel . So consider how much you vacation .
No, no, no - timeshares are terrible investments. An investment is something you hope will grow in value over time, yet timeshares sell for much, much less than their original purchase price. I'd spend the money on hotel rooms - MUCH better deal, and there's no monthly 'service' fee and you go where you like, when you like, for much less money.
If you have the extra money to spare yes. As other people have said, the value usually does not increase. Bet if you do get a timeshare, get one that does not lock you down to one place. With ours we've been to Williamsburg, Orlando, and Atlantic City so far. On each of the properties were enough to do that we didn't even have to leave the complex, there was enough to do on property. The Orlando one even had restaurants there and we were able to see Disney fireworks every night from our balcony. Like I said before just make sure you can afford to make the investment, they are very hard to sell if you change your mind. I would mention which timeshare companies we bought from, but I think that is against the ASK rules.
