Why does it get colder just as the sun comes up?

Report as

This is because when the sun is very low in the sky with clear skies, the earth is still losing additional energy in form of heat from the surface that it is receiving from the sun.

throughout the night all of the cloud cover acts as a giant blanket and holds in heat, but as the sun comes up it burns away those clouds allowing that heat to escape and become a few degrees cooler for a short period. This is why nights with crystal clear skies are much cooler than cloudy nights.
