Hi Michael! Good for you to want to quit! As an ex-smoker, I can tell you it is hard, but can be done! The nicotine replacements are a safe alternative. They include nicotine gum, patches, lozenges, inhalers (prescription), and e-cigarettes. Just understand that the nicotine will remain in your system, and the addiction will continue. You gradually wean away from nicotine with these methods. I suggest you find a quit support group. They are everywhere. The education and conversation are highly beneficial. Every attempt to quit is a learning experience that will make tomorrow's attempt be better informed. You are an addict for life, and you will need to be mindful and strong every day for the rest of your life. If you stay strong, it will be a long, healthy life! Good luck!
