Put one in the garage and spend time watching it every day. Get as close as you can and stay there for as long as you can. Next time, get closer. Stay longer. Watch how fascinating they are, how orderly they move and how they are always busy. Appreciate them. This desensitizing will help you with the ants, then you can move on to something else. Most insects are really interesting. If you just can't get your head around this, look at pictures of insects, then watch videos of them. Then move up to the ant farm.
To stop being afraid of bugs, you need to realize that you are bigger in size than them. Therefore, encouraging yourself will help you in getting rid of them. You also need to figure out why you are scared of the bugs. If it is their looks, then you should try to familiarize yourself with the bugs so that you can easily identify them and get rid of them.
