When I travel to NY as the executor of a property, can I claim for my meals and if I can, is there a specific amount for each meal?
I am the executor of a property in NY. I reside in Florida. I travel at least once a year to NY. When I travel to NY, can I claim for my meals and if I can, is there a specific amount for each meal? I stay with friends but I give them some money to offset the expenses of me staying there as I can't afford to put out the money for hotels in NY. I eat out a lot as I don't want to burden them. Twice I've spent two weeks there and I actually drove to NY, once my own car and the next a rental. I claim my airfare, car rental and fuel. Is there anything else that I can claim? I am about to wrap up the estate so getting my accounting together. I did ask the lawyer that was handling the estate but he did not respond, guess his part is over.
