Not the mythological hollywood walking dead versions that actually suck blood and are killed by sunlight. There is a subculture of very much alive people who choose to live a lifestyle that exists mainly at night and drink blood when they can and occasionally have 'fangs' implanted or have their own teeth sharpened but its a choice they make.
Not at all in a traditional sense. But to expand the definition from mere 'blood sucker', there begins to be similarities within people of questionable character. 'Emotional vampires'. The type of person that everyone knows. . .you feel tired when speaking with them, drawn to their personality though they mistreat you, offer them favors just to appease them, feel undue empathy towards them, etc. They exploit the nature of your kindness to please themselves. Often seen in drug addicts, gold diggers, and anyone intent on using pity for self preservation, or personal gain. So. . oh yes. . they're out there.
the legends started with vlad the impaler. he drank the blood of his victims and had entire villages murdered under his watch. also modern day vampire groups do claim not to be vampires but drinking human blood once a month is something they do. this blood comes from a willing doner(preferably a vegetarian). theese people do not need to drink blood to survive. they see it as following in the footsteps of the 'real vampires' that they believe in.
I happen to be Romanian and everybody says that Dracula was the first vampire he wast he was the kin of romania and they just say he's a vampire because of the owfull things he did to he's enemies when he captured them, there are no vampires it was just a story that try told to describe Dracula the people just decide to make books about it and make movies about it just to make money I know all of this for a fact
