I think it depends on the person. I have seen some women who have really short hair and it really works for them, I have seen women with really long hair that is gorgeous. I keep mine in the middle. Long enough to put up but not so long it looks flat.

I personally, don't care. I think girls will look beautiful any way, and whoever wants to judge you; well, they can, but they don't know you at all. Just go with whatever you're comfortable with. Now me, I like short hair, mainly because it's better to work with and it doesn't get frizzy or stringy, but I mainly go with uneven haircuts and unique ones, because I love being different from everyone else.
When I was a teenager I realized that hair length and hair styles are a very personal matter. (My parents and I were visiting my mother's cousin in California. We were about an hour and a half late going out for dinner because her cousin couldn't get her hard to look the way she wanted it to look at evening.)
Ever since then, I've considered hair length and hair styles to be entirely up to the person--man or woman.
From a practical point of view, I think Beckett (Stana Katic) on "Castle" would look good even if she had alopecia.
Long hair is my preference but short has benefits as well. It depends 1-time to maintain 2-shape of face 3-some look at style trend 4-hair is just the cover on the book (so to speak). It is what you like as a person and there is so much more to being you.
