Well offline it's not educational and it could be safe or not for them it depends on what they build or if they have anger issues and get mad easily
And online they could be talking to any one like people there age or it could be some child predator it really isn't safety assured but really they could just be playing with anyone like a you-tuber, troller, crack head, little kid, a guy in a banana suit eating bananas you really can't tell
But overall I personally don't think much harm could be done I myself enjoy the IPhone minecraft version it's fun and a good way to kill time

It's very creative. I'd say it's safe for kids over 8 or 10. But it does have bad guys like zombies and skeletons, so it depends on how strict you are with your children. An overdose of minecraft is bad for you and can make people too attached to it.
I'm pretty attached to it myself.

It is definitely safe, but it is sort of educational, Obsidian IS made when water touches lava in real life and in Minecraft! But, if you're afraid that your child will get frightened from monsters, don't forget, you can put it on Peaceful mode! If your child is like, "MOM! I want a crossbow!!" Then you ask, "Can you make one on Minecraft?" Then your child says, "NO." Is there a solution for that? Yes! You can install mods! You can learn how to install a mod from YouTube videos!

Safe? Yes. Fun for them? Yes. Educational? Yes it's a blessing in disguise. It teaches kids how to plan out building ideas putting them in the actual minecraft world. It also teaches them logic skills and planning. Even though you can make floating blocks, its mostly about strategy and survival. Also it can teach them certain social skills if they play online multiplayer. However do not misjudge that. I would limit online time to a few hours (about 3 and a half) so it cant get out of hand and they dont get obsessed. Hope my answer helped!

Not educational, but it helps with creativity a lot! On single player it is safe. However, you have access to servers, which are multiplayer worlds where players can play online together. Most of these are good, but people can say pretty nasty/inappropriate things. On a majority of servers this type of behavior is prohibited, but not all.

It can be educational by teaching children different types of ore and allows them to express their creativity, but if a child decides to do online gaming I know plenty of players who will be very mean and put down your child and they will cuss. It isn't exactly safe if you allow them that way but if they play with friends or on their own than it's safer. It's a lot like normal video games, but it's best if you want your child to express creativity to play games outside with friends or draw and read. That helps a child better. It's also better to play with your child.

You can use it to teach geometry, teach them to be creative, math (counting things), language arts (names of stuff), all that stuff. It's useful, and servers can be monitored to see what people are doing. Swearing can be blocked. Minecraft is like the matrix, it's an environment that you can manipulate

Minecraft is perfectly safe for kids, and somewhat educational. I've been playing since I was 11 (I'm 14) and I have always found it fun and a good way to release my creativity. The only thing that may bring worries to a parent is that on some servers, swearing is allowed. A lot are strict with swearing though, because a lot of young people DO play minecraft. You also don't even have to play mp, you can just stick to singleplayer (:

Its educational because you learn to chop wood and kill animals when you need food in the wild and learn to make houses so its great for kids under 17 8 between 17 its the age group u should be in you could be 8 9 10 11 12 13 1 15 16 17 to play if your playing at 18 your an adult playing mine craft thank you for asking the question

Yes, if you think art and creativity is educational. Which, BTW, it is, considering it exercises the mind and body at once. And it is safe. Definitely safe. If you do not want your child to kill animals or other players, simply adjust the setting to "Peaceful." He/she will not starve, will not be able to hit/ brutally attack other players, nor get attacked by others.

it would defiantly be safe if it is offline gaming, online there can be people saying inappropriate things and curses but you can find servers that don't tolerate bad language and are really player friendly, so online can be safe to. not very educational, maybe teach a bit of survival instinct, like find shelter and food, stay in shelter at night, collect resources, and it is good for imagination and creativity

I do belive its safer than most games kids play, I myself play it, and it depends on how you look at it. There is violence, but theres no blood and gore, the mon/player turns red, falls, and disappears. Some schools use it, my best friend uses it because one day he wants to be an architect, and so Minecraft shows the details and other crap. It also helps with math, science, and art/creativity. It also may teach survival skills.

Minecraft is not education, but it might teach kids how to survive or be more creative.

In survival mode (you can choose to have the monsters on or off, because depending on the age these monsters can scare people easily) you simply start out needing wood, food and a shelter. This could insure survival if ever lost in reality.

In creative mode, the game let's you build whatever you wish.

FUN: It's fun in the fact that it allows children to explore an open world and interact with it, especially so in peaceful/creative mode which takes away bad guys, such as spiders, skeletons, and zombies (all pixalated and blocky). There are also plenty of things to discover as well, such as randomly created villages, mine shafts, and ruins.

EDUCATIONAL: It has a level of education to it, such as construction and creativity. By interacting with the world (such as chopping down trees) you can create and build new items with it, such as planks of wood for building book shelves and houses, and sticks for torches and fences, the player can use their creativity to build intricate houses and structures. Creativity is a form of education, and Minecraft isn't lacking in it at all.

Safe yes... My daughter is in a minecraft camp at Drexel University. The camp is teaching intro to java by using minecraft. My daughter turned 8 in July and she is in love with this camp... Hey mom I know how to make a skeleton horse / nbtedit . I think taking a popular game and teaching children java from it is genius. Architecture ,problem solving, team work and the Value of being prepared are all things that your child could learn from this game. THAT BEING SAID moderation is still key to any videogame.

The diversity and creativity of Minecraft means it can be many things to many people. The very nature of crafting is ratios and proportions and in survival mode you need to do some strategic thinking to survive. Then there is brewing, designing structures, and redstone; that is before applying pedagogy to the game itself, so it is definitely educational.

In Single Player Mode you are alone in your worlds, safe from other people.
In Multi Player Mode on public servers you are sharing the worlds with people you do not know, unless playing with friends. On these servers the players are a mixture of children, teens and adults and from what I've seen I don't think primary age students should be seeing some of those chat discussions and sharing space with those type of people.

There are not many safe alternatives. As a registered teacher I have started a kids only server to provide a safe playground for them to create, play and do it safely together. If more people do that we can provide more Minecraft Multiserver worlds for our children.

Minecraft can be educational, people just have a hard time seeing it in an educational way. It is safe for kids you can turn it to peaceful to get rid of all the hostile mobs. Minecraft can teach kids about how farming works how real physics work and how to plan ahead. Kids can also learn how different vehicles work like a boat or a mine cart. Minecraft can be used to teach kids to work together too. Think twice before you listen to anyone who believes otherwise.
