When I lived in the San Fernando Valley (in L. A. County) rent for a 3bdrm, 2 bath townhouse, was $1,500 mo. When I moved to Redondo Beach, it was near the ocean---so the same size place cost $2,750 mo. But the 180 degree ocean view was worth it.
In the Silicon Valley of Palo Alto and Mountain View, CA, we paid $3,600 for a rental house of that size, per mo.

In California houses of the size that you mention rent for more than $1.00 per square foot. Depending on the neighborhood, the rent could be as high as $2,000 per month. In my opinion it will be very unusual for such a house to rent for less than $1,000 unless it is in a really crummy part of town.
I#039;m embarrassed to say how much it would cost near me -_-; In NYC a 3 bedroom (not even guaranteed 3 bath!) could run you $2,050 at the LOW END PRICE POINT in a rough neighborhood... and in a quot;luxury buildingquot; in a swanky area of the city, the same apartment size could cost you $7,750! Where I live now, though, it costs around $1100 for the same space, or even for *more* space! We just moved to the Upper Hudson Valley of NY; there#039;s not as much to do, and things are farther apart when compared to where we used to live. But there#039;s a reason Hubby amp; I moved, LOL! ;)
