In 1639 Richard Fairbanks' tavern in boston was the official repository for overseas mail. Which could be considered the first. Although, William penn established a post office in Pennsylvania in 1683. Which is considered the first. Also, Benjamin Franklin was the first postmaster.

Actually, royal mail in London was founded around 1516. I thought you were talking about America sorry.
