I like this boy in my youth group. His sister is like my best friend. Hes my age, but I don't know if he likes me back. Help?

I don't even know if hes allowed to date yet... By the way I'm 14, but a lot of families in my church dont let their kids date until their 16. I can though! And I really like him

I know this may sound rediculous but try asking his parents if they would be ok with it. My parents weren't going to let me date until I was 17 but I had my first relationship at 15 and I told them a week after it started. They didn't get upset they just looked at me and said they knew it would happen sooner or later. Some parents make rules like that to keep their children away at younger ages.

The only way you can establish if he is allowed to date is by either asking his sister or asking him. To get close enough to ask him, you have to start by talking to him. Since his sister is your best friend, you can start by visiting him under false pretenses, though his parents won't like it if they find out.

Have his sister say good things about you around him. Use her to your advantage.

Listen to parents. Rules are there to protect you. If you get caught your trust goes out window. Doing what parents ask is a sign of being mature. Going behind back will only strengthen the argument that you are not ready. Honor thy mother and thy father.

I'm allowed to date, but I don't know if he can, or if he even likes me like that. I wouldn't go against his or my parents.

Well, lets say you do. What happens to relationship with friend? If your friendship survives that. When you and him break up, what happens to your friendship? Ask yourself,is you going out with her brother, worth losing friendship??

Like I said, I don't even know if he likes me. What I'm trying to do right now is make friendships... I know his sister very well, and I know that we would survive it if anything would happen. And also I WOULDN'T EVER go against his parent! That would NOT be a good relationship.

Just because to you I'm considered a little girl doesn't mean I can't like people and date. You tell me to grow up, but do you realize that I can only age one year at a time just like everybody else. Its not my fault that I was born 14 years ago and that I like a boy my age. I see 11 and 12 year old dating with their parents approval. Despite what you might assume, I'm pretty mature for my age, and you may forget that I ask this because he's in my youth group. I respect God, our parents, and our youth pastor, and if I do have a relationship with him, there realy wouldn't be anything sexual.

I'm just pointing out that in Bible times people would be married at younger ages. Mary had Jesus when she was only 14 and she was engaged. In amish tradition girls begin dating at 14-15. In most places in the world, at my age girls are having mush more serious relationships then dating, like marriage, and life promises of commitment. I'm not saying I'll be marrying any time soon, and I don't plan on doing anything sexual until marriage. I thank you for your concern but I am considered in practically all of the world, of dating age.

And also, in most parts of the world, "grown adults" are already married or in life long relationships. Wich could only mean that they began dating before that.
