If a person who has HIV does their life become shorter?

Magic Johnson is 54 years old and has been diagnosed with HIV for at least the past 20 years. It hasn't seemed to shorten his life.

It will negatively affect life longevity but with today's treatments and medicines, you can live a long life and have some normalcy.

Not always. So many who have had for 20 or more years were told they were not going to make it to old age and then didn't save up for retirement. They are still alive and kicking and are trying to play catch up.

HIV is no longer a death sentence,patients go on to live long, normal, healthy lives with the introduction of cocktail meds. .
HIV no longer has to lead to deadly AIDS.

Scientists are at the edge of the cure for HIV. For now, they can prolong your life with medicine, stretch it over a bigger amount of time.
