What skills do I need to get a job at C.F. Martin Guitar Factory in Nazareth, PA?
I'm an engineer, about 8 years away from retiring. It has been a fantasy of mine to work at C.F. Martin Guitar Factory when I retire. I play the guitar. I love Martin Guitars. I've dabbled with wood working and basic carpentry, making simple stuff like shelves, bunk beds, a patio cover, nothing real complicated. I'm wondering, do I need any special skills to qualify for a job at the C.F. Martin Guitar Factory? I took the tour of the factory, and I told my wife, I would sweep the floors, or buff the sounds boards, or make the scalloped bracings, anything really. At the end of the assembly line, there was a guy who attached some electronic equipment to test the frequency response of the guitar. I was thinking, maybe I could use some of my engineering skills to test the finished product. I have 8 years to build up some guitar making skills. Any suggestions? Thanks.
