It would be sweet if you got it expunged but it is a difficult expensive process. you have to prove that someone screwed up at your first conviction and you did not get a fair trial. The cards are stacked against you.

It will stay on your record for life.

If I'm not mistaken your DUI record will last for about 7 to 10 years. It all depends on what state which you said is California. In Georgia it stays on your record for 7 years.

It should stay on your criminal record forever unless you are able to get it expunged.

However long it stays on there, I don't know. But the main thing is that you learned a lesson: DON'T EVER DRINK & DRIVE AGAIN!!!!!

Some comments are correct... It does depend on what state you live in and their policy and procedure regarding DUI. The states where I worked as an officer it was 10 years...other states keep it on your record for life.
