If you are just going in without having years of training in boxing , Brazilian jujitsu , Etc. your going to get your face bashed in. I recommend taking baby steps . First learn two fighting styles then jump into MMA. You can't just say hey I wanna be in the UFC. I suggest YMCA if that's free . It really depends you could probably set up a better training station at home . If its free it might not be super great .
Home is a wonderful place to train. I train for at least an hour a day, in my backyard (if you want to know what i use, just ask). You also need to find someone who is tough enough to spar with you without using protective equipment, that way you can temper your body and gain a higher level of pain tolerance for when you actually get in the ring. You can probably find a sparring partner by walking into any martial arts dojo, finding a tough partner who can challenge you may be difficult though depending on your skill level. I have yet to find an mma gym where i can find a sparring partner for free, and i can hardly find a decent sparring partner at all. So i just stick to sparring with the few people i know who are good at street-fighting, they at least present a moderate challenge.
