Why larger cars have higher running cost than smaller cars?

It takes alot more gasoline to make it go.

Mostly, large cars have high running cost due to their fuel consumption. It also depends on the transmission they are using as cars built with constantly variable transmissions consume more fuel than others. Large cars with lower emission will not consume much fuel.

Because just about everything is more expensive on a big car, it needs more fuel, the insurance is higher, and parts that need replacing cost more, like tires, brake pads, oil and so on.
