The laws on that are different for every state you will need to ask your DMV or someone who schedules the classes. In North Carolina though the class length varies in the school year its three weeks for about 4 hours a day after school that stinks don’t do it. Or just a week in the summer but you go all day. But you don’t have homework to tack care of on top of it. So it’s a personal preference thing. The cost is I think a little under $50 to $60 to get in the class. But if you get through out of the class for disrupting it or something you have to pay for an expensive privet class that cost over $100 to get into. I hope this helps. :)

You can get a license without any classes or extra stuff. It's about $5 to get a learner's and then the full license depends on her age - anywhere from $5 for a 3 year license to $12 for an 8 year license (they try to make it so you renew on your 18th birthday, 21st, and then every bday that ends in a 5 or 0 so it's easy to remember.)
However, keep in mind that your insurance costs will drop if the teen takes drivers' education.
