Which one of our forefathers wanted the turkey for thanksgiving instead of the bald eagle as the national symbol?

Report as

Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey for thanksgiving instead of the bald eagle as the national symbol. When the bald eagle became the official symbol for America in 1782, Franklin had some objections as he described the bald eagle as a lazy thief and as a coward.

Benjamin Franklin. He thought, since the Bald Eagle was a carrion feeder, it was a bad choice to represent a nation as great as ours.
