Iphone 4 question. (please read description.)

My aunt has an iphone 4, she bought a charger for it at walmart and it worked fine. But a month or so later when she tried to use it, a message came up saying "charger not supported." Does anyone know why or even how an iphone can just "change its mind" like that, about what will charge it, and what won't?

Take the charger back or just buy a new one. The apple chargers are the best, they last for about a year. All others have not worked for me for more than a month. I get the same message also when I use a bad charger.

The iPhone is not "changing it's mind", it is just doing what it's supposed to to protect the battery and phone by detecting a charger which is not functioning properly. The charger is messing up somehow, take it back as Kokinaw mentioned, and yesss it's worth the extra $$ to buy a Apple charger; they work much better, last longer, and are less likely to harm your Apple products.
If you need a second charger just for occasional use( not on a daily basis!) a decent non-Apple one does ok.
