You have to insist. you should know by now what time he usually has a bowel. Also try taking him to restroom when you go. I know it sounds gross but they need to know what you have accomplished. Make a big deal out of it. Make it a party and dance to it. "Oh yeah I went potty oh potty, I went potty oh yea oh yeah." Did you?

it going to get harder to train he/she you should've started earlier. But my parents would have me sit on the potty all day or minutes before i use the bathroom and have me sit there for several minutes until i say im done.

My daughter went through the same thing. We tried bribing, and the potty dance and you name it. Then we eventually handled it the worst way possible, by getting very upset and taking our frustrations out on her by being yelling. (One of my biggest regrets) It did NOT help and she continued to do it. The only way I found to help was to have her sit on the toilet at the time she usually has a bowel movement everyday and give her a book or a hand held game. It worked bc she would end up sitting there until she went, or longer just to read. It was a daily battle! She would constantly tell us she didn't have to go but we told her she still had to try for 5-10 min with a book. Yes, Ik that sounds like a long time but she was fine and it worked. We gave her a foot stool to balance. She most often would go in her pants when she was playing bc she didn't want to stop what she was doing so we would watch her close and when she squatted, got very quiet, or stayed in one place for too long we would make her go sit on the toilet for 5 min, even when she said she didn't have to go. We just told her it was time to take a reading break. I hope this helps!
