How to calm my spastic dog down? I have a miniature border collie German Shepard mix. she's almost a year old and she is a crazy spazz!!

I take her outside and spend time with her but she is always dashing around the house slamming into walls and destroying everything. is there a way to calm her down?

How much time are you spending outside with her? Both dogs in that mix are smart and high energy and need probably a minimum 2 hours of exercise. If you can't give her that amount of time find a doggy daycare. Most times they don't need to go everyday, but 3 times a week. They get so worn out one day they sleep the next. Or try agility training. It gets their mind going as well as the body.

No, that's the way she is. It could be her breed. She will calm down with age

To calm down a spastic dogchange his food to something low energy that does not contain sugar. If you are unsure which food would be best for your dog, consult your vet. You can also enroll him in a doggie day care if you work all day. Go to http://dogcare.dailypuppy.com/tame-spastic-dog-3006.html for details.

It's all about the walk. Put a leash on your dog and take it for a long walk. In fact it probably would be best to do 2 to 3 long walks per day. I actually have a German Shepard, border collie (not miniature) mix. she's now 5 years old and we take her for 2 long walks a day (50 to 60 minutes) we did 3 long walks a day unit she was about 3.

Your dog needs a job. It's a herding dog by nature! It needs to be walked three or four times a day!! Get it a backpack and put bricks or something heavy in it, also, enroll in obedience classes
