My net income per month is \$975. I have union dues at 10% plus California taxes. About how much will be my take home amount?

I am utterly terrible at math and have no idea how to somewhat accurately assess this. not even on a calculator :( sad, I know, but any help will be appreciated.

Net income is what you actually take home after all taxes and deductions. Gross income is the amount you make before anything is taken out.
To figure 10% of \$975.00 just move the decimal point one space to the left. So 10% of \$975.00 is \$97.50. (Do you see how I did that? It is just one step to the left.) Now deduct, leaving you \$877.50.
I don't know what income tax is in California, but it is figured on your GROSS income and then deducted as in the above illustration. Social Security tax should also be taken out. About 25% of your gross pay will be deducted for various dues and taxes, leaving you will about \$740 in your pocket.

\$975 x 10% = 97.50; 975 - 97.50 = 877.50; I"m sure you would have Federal AND state taxes. Federal Taxes on monthly income of 975 for a single person claiming 1 is 47.00; in California it appears that you may qualify for the low income exemption so possibly no state tax. So, 877.50 - 47 (fed tax) = 830.50. I am not an accountant or anything and only giving my opinion on the matter.
