It is a drug. While it is a drink it is a poison or drug that enters your system and slows the neural system in you body, effectively depressing your system. It is a depressant. And so it effects the entire body with it's toxins or drug effects.
It for sure is a drug. Although is not a hallucinogen is still affects the mind and body. It is a depressant and it affects the nervous system slowing reaction time. It is a drug when not abused, it can be drank without causing a "buzz" but some people can smoke weed and still not feel it thanks to there high tolerance to the substance.
If misused alcohol is a drug. Both my parents were heavy drinkers when I was a teenager. People sometimes use alcohol to self-medicate when they can't cope with the stress of life. This does not mean that drinking in moderation is bad. I have chosen not to drink because of the negative impact that alcohol had on my family. It caused me to lose some respect for my parents when they broke some of their own rules for the family. For example, my father taught us not to drink and drive yet he had a wreck with a DWI.
