ABSOLUTELY NOT !!! They were about 800 years late. It was: Eratosthenes of Cyrene, 276 BC - 195 BC was a Greek mathematician, geographer, poet, astronomer, and music theorist. - He was the first person to use the word "geography" in Greek and he invented the discipline of geography as we understand it. He invented a system of latitude and longitude. - He was the first person to calculate the circumference of the earth by using a measuring system using stades, or the length of stadiums during that time period (with remarkable accuracy). He was the first to calculate the tilt of the Earth's axis (also with remarkable accuracy). He may also have accurately calculated the distance from the earth to the sun and invented the leap day. He also created the first map of the world incorporating parallels and meridians within his cartographic depictions based on the available geographical knowledge of the era. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eratosthenes
The Bible (Isaiah 51 ) speaks of God sitting above the "circle of the earth" The Bible predates the Quran. Islam was founded by the prophet Mohammed. Mohammed was a descendant of Ishmael. Ishmael was the son of Abram (Abraham) and Hagar, his wife Sarah's maid. If you read this Bible story you will see that Ishmael was in fact a child born out of wedlock and a product of unbelief in a direct promise of God. It is I fact a clear fact that the Bible pointed out the shape of the earth some 700 yrs before the birth of Jesus, which also was prophesied in Isaiah
Only if you want it to. By that I mean some portions can be understood in different ways and it's a stretch but some passages could be interpreted as describing a round earth, however these passages seem to have alternate and more sensible meanings considering the time and place they were written. In other words, no I don't believe the Quran actually mentions a round earth or predicts any scientific facts.

A guy called Eratosthenes, a Greek living in Egypt, proposed that the world was round in 240 BCE. He not only said that, he calculated its circumference His measurement wasn't completely accurate and may have been off by as much as 16% or as close as 1%. In either case, it was pretty impressive. You can read more about it at the link below.
But this guy was a mathematician. He worked it out using geometry, observation, and a high degree of intelligence. There was no Divine revelation, whether Christian, Islamic, or anything else.

Hypatia -4th century AD, Mathematician, astronomer, philosopher, teacher. Developed a mathematical model demonstrating that the earth is a sphere and that it orbits the sun, and that the orbit is elliptical. Her brutal murder was ordered by the Bishop of Hippo on the grounds that she violated the Christian law that a woman may not instruct a man.

Quran is not a science textbook , but a guiding and a mercy to the believers .
The Quran has pointed out many scientific and historical facts which were not only unknown at that time, but could not even be imagined given the development of civilization. Entire books have been written (by both Muslims and non-Muslims) confirming the correspondence of scientific discoveries to the truths expressed in the Quran .
However , The Quran is the constitution of Islam , it is not meant to be a book of astronomy, human reproduction, oceanology, embryology, zoology, or any other type of books . And we don't subordinate the Qur'an to an ever-changing science .
And you may see These two books ...
The Amazing Qur'an Dr. Miller's famous work.
The Bible, The Qur'an and Science by Dr. Maurice Bucaille --- And you may see some articles here ~ if interested ~
the Bible says the earth is round and hangs in space. It took a long time for science to catch up and reach the same conclusions. Copernicus made the discovery in 1475. But the Bible always knew. Here are two related Bible verses that were written more than 2500 years ago, and more than 1000 years before Copernicus

The Quran is all about miracles. One of it's many miracles that it talks about some specific geographic facts people didn't know it until the 20th century such as the part in the sea where there is a salty water curve is running all align with a sweet water curve. It gave us signs about how earth movement is the main reason behind the day and night and also mentioned the 4 seasons. Quran didn't fail to describe the space as well in a time no one ever place his foot up there to see it. Therefore I'd say Quran is a guiding book full of answers to every question + it keep within the miracles and information about things we didn't discover yet just to convey one message which is:
God said in Quran : You do not get into any situation, nor do you recite any Quran, nor do you do anything, but We are watching over you as you undertake it. Not even the weight of an atom, on earth or in the sky, escapes your Lord, nor is there anything smaller or larger, but is in a clear record. Johan/Yunus 61
