How long does a breathalyzer detect alcohol?

If I start drinking at 6 a.m and have 5 shots of vodka, and stop between 10 a.m and 12 p.m. will the alcohol be able to be detected by a breathlyzer the following morning at 9 a.m?
I weigh 145, if that is relevant at all.

It can take an average of 10 hours but this will vary because of the body temperature as well as blood composition and the presence of blood in the mouth. The length of time that breathalyzers are able to detect alcohol varies. For the most part, they can detect even the smallest amount of alcohol in a person's system. It will probably detect something, but not enough to be of any concern. According to the CA blood alcohol chart which is pretty strict, you can safely have 4 drinks in that amount of time and still drive anyways. If thats what your concerned about.

As. Long as you have alcohol in your system. A good rule of thumb is the average body will expel alcohol at the rate of one beer or one shot every hour after you discontinue drinking.
