Is it impossible to create a shrink ray?

I want to shrink sharks! and teapots! and all kinds of things! will there be shrink rays in the future?

No. Physics is not scale invariant, meaning that a water drop the size of car behaves very differently from a water drop the size of a pea. If you did manage shrink something, it would end up malfunctioning, breaking, explosing, etc. because the laws of physics are not scale invariant. Also, everything is made out of atoms, which can't be shrunk. The only way to shrink something is by removing some of its atoms. But by doing that, you are changing it into something else.

Haha maybe in the FAR distant future, but you won't be shrinking the kids anytime soon, Honey.

The problem is at the atomic level, animals and things are made up of atoms that cannot be decreased in size, and if you take away atoms, what you will have left will not function (like it will die) even if it looks like the thing it started out to be.
