Is it legal to carry a non foldable knife ( in a backpack ) in the state of Florida?

The knife blade is about 5.5 inches long, and I have a backpack that is towards emergency/survival when I go out boating in the swamps and such.. but I also carry the backpack with me sometimes into convenient stores when I stop to get a drink or a snack on the way. Also, this sounds crazy, but I am almost 14. No, I have no hostile means, my dad just has always raised me to be prepared for anything :) I forgot to add, it has a nylon sheath for it.

I dont know the law but as long as it is sheathed and stored properly taking it on a boat shouldnt be a problem. However I would NOT carry that into a store. Your age might play a factor as well. Even though you mean good the world is crazy. Also I hear its total lenght of the knife from blade tip to handle bottom. I dont know if this is true or not, But thats a god question.

Thanks! The more I think about it, the sillier my question sounds to me! Yeah, I figured it would be better to leave it in the truck.. my dad has a concealed carry permit too if that means anything! (:

Actually as long as your not using it as a threat or to harming anyone/anything than its legal c:

It would be considered a concealed weapon and would be illegal to carry around in your backpack.

In Florida only a common pocket knife is legal. All others require a license as concealed weapon.

Useful to know. The Toronto police just shot a young guy Sami (18yrs) 9 times, then used a taser, for opening a knife on a street car. Very sad, very unprofessional. Canadians are sick of this happening.

It is sad. Police seem to use excessive force way to often. Don't know why he was opening it but 9 times!!!! Then taser. I don't get it.
