My dog does not want to eat her food.

I have been through many food brands. pedigree, purina, she would nibble on it, but if I get the cat food (tuna) out or human food, she tries to get it. she eats human food just fine so she is not sick. I recently had enough and got her a high quality food. simply nourish. 4 star food. but she still won't eat it. what should I do with this picky dog?

Feed her the tuna "my dog " dog food. She obviously has a fishy tooth.

You Maybe have to take the dog to the Nearest Pet Hospital to see what's going on because my friend had the same problem.

if she gets hungry enough she should eat her regular food. If she doesn't eat within 24hrs consult vet.

Have you ever noticed how animals always want to eat our food? Maybe it's because we actually have flavor. And they like some of those flavors. Maybe your dog hates the flavor your feeding her.

You might have her checked by a vet. However, I suspect if you stop giving her people food (which isn't nutritionally balanced for a dog), sooner or later she will in deed start eating.

well, the kibble peices coulsmd be too big. but i would ignore her, and she'll get hungry enough to eat it. Chances are, she's just stubborn, like my dog. However,if she still doesnt eat in like a day, go to the vwt.

sounds like she may be spoiled on people food. never feed your dog catfood as its just a filler and will not nourish a dog. if the pieces are ti big they won't eat it either. i have alot of digs and have encountered this problem many times with new ones. make sure its tiny pieces and good quality such as purina little bites. my digs are picky and want my food but they like the little bites. try mixing some soft canned food in it or pouring a little grease from cooking or gravy. i would recommend the soft food mixed in it. also don't give to many treats. their belly is small and they will get filled up quickly. one or two small treats a day. my dogs always want the cat food cuz its soft but they have dogfood that's soft to but its not good to be on soft food only as its bad for their teeth.

First thing is to stop switching all the time! Buy a small bites, good quality food, feed her ONLY that, nothing else, no treats, no human food. She will start eating once she gets hungry, and realizes there isn't anything else coming at her soon. If for some reason she does not eat within 36 to 48 hours, take her to the vet, to make sure there is not a physical problem. Once she has been eating her food for a few days, add a treat or two a day if you like. And always make sure she has fresh water available. Don't worry, she will eat!:0).

My Hound get's white rice and boiled white chicken in his food ! Vet's orders !

That's actually a good "people" food for dogs, especially if they have wheat allergies, or tend to get stomach upsets easily!!:0). But the average dog can and should be able to eat a GOOD quality dog food without nit-pickin', if you just give it a chance... that's why the time-frame... if it won't after about 2 days, needs a vet-check!!
And that Chicken and rice you cook? Not with all kinds of added salt and spices right? That's what saved my Shepperd after his major spinal surgery!! :0).
Report as
No salt or any spices ! Just boiled water. He has a touch of Pancreitis ! I can't ever spell that word !

No worries.. I couldn't either! But with that "P", the rice and chicken fixed plainly is excellent. as you know.:0).
Always wonder... when people think dogs "want" human flavorings in their food... only reason the dog "wants" it, cause you, the person he adores.. gives it to him! He'd much rather have some good plain ole chicken, skin fat and all!!! ha,ha!! No heavy fat in Hunters case of course.:0).

No, I pick the fat off the chicken breasts! But they usually don't have much anyway if you buy them boneless, which we do !
