In your opinion, would America be a better or worse place if we had 1 billion people?

Please give your opinion as to why. I think that it COULD be a better place, because there would be more large and mid-sized good cities, more workforce, etc. , but it also COULD be a worse place because of overcrowding etc. Thanks and have a GREAT day :)

If current trends continue, the population of the United States will rise to 438 million in 2050, from 296 million in 2005, and 82% of the increase will be due to immigrants arriving from 2005 to 2050 and their U.S.-born descendants, according to new projections developed by the Pew Research Center. Food production (largely due to better farming techniques) has been able to keep up with current population growth, but social systems are frequently strained with increased density, resulting in crime as well as social unrest. If the majority of the anticipated growth is found in large cities and their suburbs, I suspect traffic congestion, infrastructure impacts, and social systems failures, but on the other hand, growth of this kind would allow a large increase in GDP; assuming our capital (and taxes) increased with the population, and we didn't grow only from an expansion of the poor, there may be enough tax base to keep up with vital services. Immigrants are going to have to become middle class within a generation, or immigration will have to be better controlled.

No to many people little jobs it'd cost more money and supplies for homes and military etc it'd be like china no open space besides mountains that means not many fields and crops to be planted and prices sky rocket

Worse. We already outsource a ton of our food needs to other countries. Hunger, poverty, sanitation, and water quality would become worse problems than they already are. As it is right now, our energy needs are not met and are not possible to be met by our own country. America's peak oil happened in the '70s. A population spike like that would quite literally be apocalyptic to us.

Oh god. More crimes, more noise, more resources being used, escalated prices, no space... we would definitely be living in Hell.

In China they not only limit to one child but say its a girl. Oh look so adorable...FOR ADOPTION. A lot of girls are left on the street. So I guess that means no more kids in China. But for the US. With the debt, prices will sky rocket (California will suck because gas is already at $4.50 do we really need to go higher) So I guess we should all move to Detroit. Oh wait it's bankrupt. Great Let's just invade Europe with 1,000,000,000 immigrants
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
