Purse or something heavy on passenger seat?
The sensor in seat will interpret it as an un-belted person seated.... Faulty seat belt contact? The electrical connections are under the seats. is there a lot of stuff shoved under seat to cause a break, or short in the circuitry?
The light is on to let you know that the bag will not deploy in a major collision.

It doesn't matter what is causing it. Your air bag is something you don't fool around with, if it should deploy you could be badly hurt. Take it to the dealer or a mechanic you trust and get it taken care of now.

The connection is broken. The bigger question since air bags cost like $1500 -$2500 each and insurance companies consider a car junk once both are deploy in some models, that if yours go's off-not now, but if someone works on it...because the slightest static can set them off while servicing it, deploys- then you have a ugly steering column, no air bag, and an auto bill. Some people just sell their car!
