Biting your finger nails is a bad habit that you have developed over a long period of time and it will require discipline and an equal, if not a longer period of time to stop. Find work that will involve your hands being occupied for long periods of time and thus prevent you from biting your nails. Biting nails can lead to infections and serious stomach upsets and you should therefore to avoid falling ill, refrain totally from biting your nails.
Try painting them like every week I'm trying that right now so I totally get how you feel! Also I keep some gum with me that way if I have an impulse to bite them I just rip off a half of a piece and it keeps my mouth busy for a while

I used to bite my nails as well. It might sound a little weird but what i did was put in garlic in a nail polish and painted my nails with it. This prevented me from biting my nails because they tasted like garlic. (:
I was a hard core nail bitter since childhood. It was such a natural thing for me to do, that I was barely aware of the action of it except for seeing how I had devastated my nails right down below my fingertips. Finally disgusted with the habit, I bought a bitter tasting anti-biting product to remind me to keep my fingers out of my mouth. All I needed was something to alert me. The bad taste and a little will power solved my nail biting problem. My nails have been absolutely impeccable for years - although, I did trade off the nervous habit by constantly playing with my hair. A huge plus in solving the nail biting thing is that you will get sick a lot less often - since we carry a great deal of germs on our hands, which we don't want to put into our mouths. That, in itself, should be an incentive. You can do it. Good luck!
I use to bite my nails all the time but now, I have tried chewing bubble gum everyday. You can try use this product but remember its a bad taste so it will it will want to make your brain think yuck don't wanna taste this anymore and this product is mentholatum STOP 'N grow. it stops you from biting your nails which helped me so much hope it works out for you. you can buy this in your drug store or on eBay or online
I had a friend who bit her nails and wanted to stop so her hands would look nice for her wedding. Since we hung out together a lot in the old days, she asked me to just tell her when she was biting them (since she did it without thinking) and remind her to stop. By the time of her wedding, she had stopped and I don't think she ever really started up again. So have some of your close friends remind you, quietly and politely, when you start to nibble.
Put a rubber band on your wrist and when you feel like biting your fingernails snap the rubber band instead. Also have your parents, coworkers or your friends tell you to stop it if they catch you. It worked for my dad and for me.
I bite my nails too but I am slowly getting better at it because I file any broken pieces to prevent me bitting them every time they brake or are unstraight and i paint them so i don't want to. also I chew gum to keep my mouth occupied or I keep my hands doing something. Now my fingernails are almost long but they kinda stick out from the nail bed so i suggest you stop now or you will have weird nails like I do..:/

Every time you go to bite your nails, think how nice your nails will look in a few weeks if you don't bite them. Plan on treating yourself to a professional manicure when they begin to grow. Picture your nails looking very nice and how pretty your hands will look! This should motivate you to stop. Good luck!
hey i used to bite my nails and it really grossed me out so my friend has this nail polish that tasted like really bad. and so now I'm afraid to like bite them cuz i'm afraid that it's still on my nails!!!!!
I tried by starting to use nail polish. Yep, those coloured ones. Because of vanity you would want your nails to looks nice and untouched once you have the nail polish on.. slowly the habit would die off. I haven't bitten my nails close to 6 years now, and I now have prettier nails to fit what I wear. Hope this may work for you!
