I don't know how to do this! Help!

So my little brother is turning 7 years old soon, and my parents won't let him have a party, or cake, or presents, even though he's really well-behaved and polite and obedient. He's jealous because my other cousins get parties all the time, and now I want to plan him a personal party our parents won't notice, in his room or something, but I don't know how? How do I bake a cake without them smelling it? How do I light candles without them noticing it? And, most importantly, how do I get him a present if I'm still 13 and can't leave the house? I need help please!!!

You can make him a card or make a present of stuff you have in the house. The cake, well, maybe you can use something that's already in the house, like shape rice krispy treats into a cupcake.

You should ask then why they wont let him have a party. Ive never heard of parents doing something like that.

There are several religions that do not advocate the celebration of the individual. It detracts from the sense of community that particular religion espouses.

Uhhh... My religion isn't one of them.

Why are your parents doing this? Is it a religious thing?
About the cake you can have a friend make it at their house and bring it over to your house.

Well, they stopped when I was 8. But they're stopping my brother a lot earlier... He only had 1 bday in his whole life, and it was in a hotel room. Plus I need to pay my brother back... He saved my life today you see.

I hope you give him the best birthday ever! He should be very thankful to have such an amazing sister! Let us know how you pull this off

You don't have to have a traditional party. It could be fun just to spend the day with him and play games or watch a movie together. Maybe you could make him his favorite food. And if you can't buy him a present, then make one yourself.

I don't know why your parents are against any type of celebration .. but if you want to help him celebrate then save a little money to buy him a cupcake, or even ask your mom if you can bake some .. you don't need a whole cake. You don't even need candles .. In fact having matches or even a lighter and candles in your room is not recommended .. that is a fire hazard. You don't need candles. Just a nicely decorated cupcake .. maybe one for him and one for you.

If you want to get him a gift .. them craft something. A photo frame, or a piece of art for his room. You don't have to buy expensive toys or cakes to celebrate. Even at 7 yrs old, I'm sure he understands the limitations involved.

Then for fun .. find something you can both do .. play a board game, turn on the lawn sprinkler, have a water fight, do something FUN .. something that will make him laugh and enjoy his day. Use your imagination.

And they're not against it really, they just think there's no need for it

That is not even a credible argument when dealing with an issue with a child...however .. they do have a point. It is true .. there is no 'need' for it .. celebrations are not 'needed' .. You CAN live without them. There is no 'need' for a lot of the things we enjoy in life.

We should make our children feel loved and special EVERYDAY .. not just ONE day of the year. It's tradition .. It's a nicety. .. kind of like a hug, although even a hug can make a person feel loved, safe and secure .. it's not 'needed' .. There many ways to accomplish the same feelings .. but .. it is 'nice' to have that kind of contact .. it just is.

I'm doing it because my brother always felt left out. Whenever my cousin had a party, he would burn red when they asked hum what his party would be like. He actually wanted to blow candles or get a card for once... Now he has the theory that mom and dad hate him. I'm just willing to make him feel special on his bday for once.

I understand .. you are trying to make him feel better.. and I commend you for your efforts. A card is a wonderful idea .. that would be easily done .. but, I warn you again .. Please do not try to provide lighted candles in your home without some supervision .. Fire is not something to be 'hidden' in your room or attempted without proper care.

Really? Works fine on my end. Look up "Birthday Craft Cards" in your favorite search engine. To get the link I sent, you can also add "canon" into the search box. (and that is "canon" as in Canon photocopiers.

Go to a nearby grocery or quickmart and get packaged cupcakes or other pastry. You can probably find him a little toy of some sort too. You can get candles but dont really light them. Balloons too. If you cant get to a store use bread and jelly. Make a 'layer cake' with layers of bread covered in jam/jelly. If you have powdered sugar sprinke a little over the too. Make pretend candles out of paper or just stick crayons in as candles. Instead of jelly you could make cinnamon toast layer cake.

Gosh, you need to see why they are doing this. My parents never celebrated my bday but they always did my brothers bdays and it hurt me so much. Now, I don't have anything to do with them. You need to really talk this out with your parents and make them understand that he needs to have even just a party with you and them and him with a cake and the bday song and presents cause they are going to ruin his love for them by not showing him love on his bday. HE is only going to be 7 once. Please talk to them.

Thanks! I decided what I'll do know... We'll have a water balloon fight, watch his fav movie, and eat buttery popcorn... And I made him his present, it's a book made of his favorite stuff... I glued a sillyband on it, a picture of wreck-it-Ralph, a spiderman sticker, a cars collage, and other things... And instead of cake, I'll make mega-jawbreaker jell-o, his favorite treat! And it all goes back to you guys!

Make him a scrapbook as a present. You can use his old coloring book. Paste his baby picture put some caption, then his 1st step, and/or funny picture of himself and so on. Paste some stickers be artistic.
Then if you have Oreos at home make him some munchkins.

Well you could tell your parents that if you could order pizza then just go to a local park, or your backyard and then you could play some games with your bro. Then you could have a harry potter marathon at night :)
