Can America recover from being programmed by the media & politicians to believe that our biggest threats are from overseas and not at home?

I feel that most in America are fearful of a threat from outside our country. It seems to me that we should take a look at what is happening here in our own land. To our own people by the people we put in office to represent us as a society. We need to hold these people accountable for their actions when they say one thing to get a vote, and do the total opposite once in office for their best interest. I'm sure the conspiracy theorist label will be thrown out there and name calling is fine if that is what you want to resort to. I'm looking for informed answers from people who feel that they have a grasp of what is really going on. Fear is a big tool to get a population to give up liberties and freedoms they wouldn't otherwise give up in the name of security. In the last twelve years we have seen the oath to uphold the constitution for politicians, police, and military go by the wayside it seems to fight "terror" in the name of national security. I feel we need to work together as a nation to hold these people accountable. When following orders gets to the point of having to break the oath you swore to uphold our constitution from enemies foreign & DOMESTIC that means we must stand up to those giving the orders if it violates what you swore to uphold. I am an avid supporter of both police and military for their willingness to serve and protect the freedoms we do still have. Like my ability to pose a question such as this without FEAR of being silenced. I guess my point is the erosion of the constitution as a base from which to keep tyranny and oppression from becoming accepted without seeing it happening right in front of us. Thanks for reading my thoughts. Hello NSA!!!

No. We will never recover from propaganda that we have so long accepted as truth.

Well you see, that's the whole point. We know what happened, we know why, and how and everything. But can we come together to stand up for what this country was built on. For liberty? Not unless we see a commercial that inspires us to. The world is changing; for every good thing that happens a bad thing balances it out. Some will say the world is better others will say it is worse, it just depends on where you stand. The hate of other cultures will stay until the last of the generation goes and there will of course be the loyal kids who trust the old ways.. We still have confederate enthusiasts. However, eventually we will run out of new/ different people to hate and all of the old hate will die with those that carry it and the world will be a stranger/better/worse/more unbelievable place.

Thank you for that response. I feel that division and hate, regardless of reason is what holds us back as human beings. If we all stepped back to realize first and foremost we are all human beings living life on this planet called earth. Within a universe among universes. If we could come together as human beings first without the arguments about nationalism, religion, race, gender, & what a person chooses to do to his own person without harming another human being. I'm not looking for utopia, just rational thinking people realizing we have a place in nature and noticing that we are losing contact with the very nature we began from. Thank you for your input it brought some good contemplation.

It is nice to get rational responses to rational questions. Ask seems to be rife with division and name calling which don't answer anything when true answers from true people is what you should get when asking questions. Thanks again. Take care.

The Gov. Is no different than its ever been, but the people have outgrown their innocence and are more aware. But the biggest threats to us Are international, not our Gov. The fact that we can write about the failures of our Gov., even tho we know they are monitoring, is proof in itself, that freedom is intact.the biggest conspiracy that I see is all the naysayers trying to convince the rest of us that our Gov. Is out to get us.

I hear what you are saying. I just wonder if it is in our best interest to allow this govt. to wage endless wars and occupy nations in the interest of security. I guess I just feel that the reasons we have to worry about international threats are due to our foreign policy decision made in our name which threaten those nations for reasons that a not ever clear to the general public except that we need to FEAR something. Just observations. Thanks for your response. Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Good day!!!

I agree, I just hope the right leadership is out there somewhere, and we find it before some crazy enemy pushes a button. Our Gov. Is certainly not innocent. We are a very young country, and rose to a great power rather suddenly. We need to aquire the wisdom to remain a great country.

By 2045 Governments probably won't even exist anymore so don't worry about it.
By 2020, there will be a one world government. - The Intelligent Age of Machines, Ray Kurzweil 1990 c . This will last up until 2045 when everything becomes automated and run by the machines thereby eliminating the status quo of the old human civilization and introducing the next era of humanity which will be run by A.I.s and human hybrids. Even if the assumptions are correct, I believe the time lines are way too short.
