Why is it hard to sing one song while a different one is playing?

like if songA is playing and you want to sing a different song like songB. why is it so hard? do we get confused?

Because without meaning to, your brain is hearing and focusing on the other song, and is having trouble multitasking. Also if the pitches clash, you will have a hard time keeping a consistent tune

Because unlike the radio, we here it playing, so we have to fine tune things to where we can focus and sing...
*Oh yeah, and unlike us, the radio never messes up on the lyrics...

Well you see every song is written in a certain key signature so for each one different notes are effected different was whether its making it flat or sharp (for more on this look up on like google flats, sharps, and key signatures music theory) so if written in a different key the one your trying to sing might have a b flat but the one your listening to the b us natural so youd hear the b natural and sing that instead of the b flat so this can happen a ton in the song.
Also it could be that your brain finds it very hard to shut out the other music your listening to instead of focusing on the song your trying to sing it focuses ob the listened to one and your mind simply has a hard time ignoring the one. Hope i helped you
