I've never played basketball before and I'm trying out for the school team and I'm not sure what I need to know any tips or links to help me practice would be greatly appreciated :) I still have a long time to practice before the tryouts

Find a role you'd like to play.

For example. A few years ago when I began highschool, I tried out for the Basketball team. It was my first time trying out for a Basketball team. Before the tryout I picked a 'niche'. I decided to be a 3-point guy. So leading up to the tryout I watched alot of Reggie Miller, Larry Bird, Chris Mullins, Ray Allen, etc. That really helped me find zones in which I was good in and strokes in which I was good at. From grade 9 up until graduation last year, I was one of the better players on my specific team. I picked a 'role' and I stuck with it. It helped me alot and it's probably the best (and very simple) advice I personally can give someone.

Don't let others trying out discourage you from being on the team, because believe me, they do...

Act fast to make your opponent feel confused, once your near the basket shoot it. (Dribble the ball so that the ball feels light when shoot.

Be confident. If you have been practicing and working hard you should have the confidence somewhere in you. Go for rebounds even if your a guard coaches love hustle. Dive for lose balls. Hopefully you have been working hard. Practice gives you confidence to perform. good luck
