Should I continue with Parkour? Please help.

look, I broke my collarbone about a few months ago, my brother stopped doing parkour, and now he is engaged, and he don't have the time.
I'm 14 years old, and I would love to do Parkour, it's my DREAM to make something from this, to continue and put my life out there for it. I love it, and It makes me so happy doing it. My collarbone is healing now, It's 2 weeks from being perfect! :) But... there's no one to do parkour with. I'm alone, practicing alone. Everyone tries to tell me that Parkour is dumb, but I love it so much! I put everything I owe to Parkour. I can't take life without it. Should I quit? I'm in this small town, and I just don't know what to do. There's barley and gyms, or anywhere to go. Actually, there is no where, it's just open, all open here. A city is an hour away... Should I continue this? Or should I just give it up and look for some else? I really don't want to, and I really would love to continue.. should I go out and do it and prove to myself I can? Or should I just give up? I really do not want to give up, but there's no choice if anything, I have no one.. and I have no places, but I REALLY want to do this. So BAD....

If you want to parkour which btw is the coolest sh*t ever, then do it. If you have a passion for something then it would be a terrible thing to quit. Work hard and get good enough at it, you could even get a career doing parkour if you wanted to bad enough. Dont let people tell you that parkour is stupid. Just be careful and try to keep the injuries to a minimum.

Definately wait til your collar bone is healed to do anything but I don't think you should quit. I know from experience it can be hard if there's no one to train with. I was lucky enough to find a gym that meets for parkour once a week, even if you can't find one specifically for parkour you could try to find a gymnastics gym that has open gym and if you go you might find someone else with the same idea as you. Also you could ask all your friends if they'd be interested in training with you. If you love it like you say you should never quit. I would ask what state you live in so I could tell you if I know of any gyms or parkour groups but I don't want to seem like a stalker so you don't have to answer. Sometimes it can be nice to train by yourself for alone time, just keep looking and i'm sure you'll find someone else eventually. Parkour is about overcoming obstacles, don't give up try to persevere.

It's alright, I'm from Alabama. I have asked friends, but.. none of them find it interesting, so I'm alone on this really. I'm looking for gyms, but not going to practice until my collarbone is healed of course. But yeah, thanks so much. :)

Also, thanks so much for putting so much inspiration in one answer! Helps me so much, thanks.

No problem, just some motivation from one traceur in training to another. I don't know of any gyms in alabama but if I find out about any that involve parkour i'll let you know

Thanks so much. :)

Unfortunately I couldn't find out about any gyms in Alabama that do parkour but keep looking, it took me a while to find a gym.

Well, alright! Thanks for trying though. :)
OH! And I don't know if we are allowed to post links on ASK
But, here h tt p:/ /www.youtube. com/watch? v =z0i1ewv f0tg
Take out the spaces. That video inspired me so much!

I'v actually seen in before and its the most inspirational parkour video i'v ever seen. Jessi La Flair inspired me to start training.
Report as
Same, everytime I watch his videos, it just... inspires me to get out and try you know?

I know exactly what you mean, although since I started doing parkour I can't stop thinking about it. Music makes me imagine doing parkour to it, sleeping makes me feel lazy for not doing parkour, and at night like right now I can't stop thinking of what new stuff i'll do tomorrow.

Same. But like I stated, it sucks so much here, because.. I'm in the south you know? I hate it here, I've not even southern. My family is, all country and such.
But, I grew up... Not really being a fan of it. I've always wanted to go to a place, where I could really do Parkour, and just.. express flow on new obstacles. The only thing I've been using to practice, is my yard, porch, and the woods around near by really. I would love to actually try in a town where I can just.. be free and freerun. Really, no lie. I'm not even that well, I've only been doing it for 4-5 months. I can't even do a flip...
Report as
I'v been doing it for over a year and i can't flip on the ground yet, just give it more time. I don't live in the south but most of my family is kind of hillbillyish while i'm a city lover so I understand that. Do you have any parks or playgrounds nearby? I train at a local elementary school playground. I always love when I do get to go into a city but just a simple playground could keep me busy for hours. And if you don't have any you could always try out tree, you can't do much but at least you could get good at climbing and maybe flip while holding on to branches to get used to the motion.
Report as
Actually, I do have a park and a playground near by, I usually must go on week days because, on the weekends, it's kinda packed with drugs and such from people. >_>

I've went there a while back, it's where I did my first Kash Vault with my brother, but.. after I got hurt, he quit. He said it was to dangerous for him.

Also, Hey man. If anything, we can talk via skype if you want. I mean, don't mean for that to sound stalkish, or.. anything like that, I was just letting you know if you want to hit me up I'll give the Deats.

:) This makes me so happy.

just don't break any more bones! And if you ever break your toe you should take a break from parkour or it will just get worse, it might seem like common sense but if you love parkour as much as me its very hard. I know from experience

Hm, alright.

Since you recently broke your collar bone which is still healing, you need to take time until you heal completely before you begin anything. However, it would not be good to stop doing the parkour is you like it a lot. You need to continue doing it on your own until you get to move out and get someone who can practice with you.

Hello I am also a girl and I say PARKOUR IT UP!! That is of course after your collar bone heals up. Then you just do freaking parkour and if someone complains you shouldn't really care. :) I hope my advice helped :P
