Is there a tactful way to discontinue or further limit what I gift? I don't have children but avg. $160 ttl. on nieces/nephews at Christmas.

To be fair, my siblings invite me for pizza/dinner at their kids birthdays or other events. The adults agree to spend $35 on each other for adult gift exchange. I still outspend family by approx. $125 that isn't reciprocated.

In our family, adult gifts are no longer exchanged. Only the children receive one gift from each family. we do not even exchange gifts for adults on birthdays.

You could try giving family gifts, instead of individual gifts for each child. A boardgame they could all play, or a video game, or a movie something all the kids can use/enjoy and belongs to all of them. When we were growing up, we had to do this as there were just too many kids.

It really is the thought that counts, just send a card! Everyday you are around is a gift to them anyway.

Just participate in the Adult gift exchange and suspend the gift giving to the children. Maybe buy a small tree trimming gift for each child - to collect as their own.

A small thoughtful gift is good enough! Do not feel like you have to spend more than you can afford or want to spend. I think it's how you treat people the other 364 days of the year that really matters anyway.

I know what you mean I had 27 people to buy for last year. I think you should put a $15 limit on gifts for the kids.remember they are kids anything to open is better than nothing.

Family gifts like games or a movie night basket with candy, popcorn, and a family movie is always great. I have lots of cousins etc. I give all the kids $5 jamba juice or McDonald etc cards It adds up too but it helps on the pocket book
