She might be depressed. If you had a recent family member who lived in the house with you and doesn't live with you anymore than the dog might be having a hard time adjusting. If not then there could be a bunch of other causes. Stress for example. If there is too much chaos in one room or noise then this can also cause the dog to freak out or panic. It would explain why he/she seeks your comfort. Try feeding the dog from your hand and comforting him while you do so. Make sure you give him lots of attention for awhile. If the symptoms get worse or don't cease then please take your animal to a local vet. If your dog is at old age that could also be a possible reason.
My dog does the same thing. Many dogs are so bored of their dog food, that they won't eat unless very hungry. I like to provide my dog with peanut butter treats and rawhide bones to chew on. I will only feed him his regular dog food once a day, and he eats it right away now :)
