Are there any ways to prevent teeth-grinding at night?

I use a guard from the store, but is there anything you can do while you're awake to prevent teeth-grinding while you're asleep?

The best thing to do is to talk to your dentist, and also make sure that your not in any pain:)

I believe that stress is one of the causes of teeth grinding. So I'd think of anything that may have been or is very or even a little stressful and try to let it go or make it so it doesn't stress you out anymore.

Are you stressful or worried a lot these days? Do you often play some exciting video games or watch some your favorite sports games?

I had that problem. Like what helped me is to not chew gum and not make my teeth touch together like all day. And it gradually got better

See a dentist for a retainer or mouth guard.. I have broken many of my teeth that way. It is due to stress and I guess the doctor can prescribe some type of muscle relaxant can't remember the name though.

i think they sell a product like the type that boxers use to cover your teeth but its like something between your teeth so you won't grind them

Night guards or bite splints made by a dentist are very expensive. Mine cost over $300.
There are some available at drug stores - about $30, I think. But for 99 cents, you can get an athletic mouth guard in the sports department of most big box stores. These are known as "boil and bites". I am a woman, weighing 140 pounds and find the adult sizes are too large. The youth size works well. Try this to see if it helps before spending more money. Good luck.

Mouth guards are great at night, but if you tend to move, but it on the end of a string, and tie the string to your clothes. Also, cut down on sugar, and anything sugary, you can eat it, but cut down a little on it.
Also, if it's getting really bad, you should talk to your dentist about solutions to the problem. Hope these help!
