Were Noah's in-laws wicked? If so, how were they able to beget offspring worthy of God's pardon?

Was simply marrying into the Noah clan enough to make them worthy? What do you think the in-laws thought about God killing their families?

Report as

In an act of magnanimity, and as a reward for Noah's blind faith in building his BBB*, God granted his ancestors (natural and conjugal) retrospective goodness. He thereby set the precedent for expunging the criminal records of juvenile offenders.

Every man woman and child is wicked.

Gods grace was enough to make them worthy.

I don't have a clue, but I imagine they were grateful for their own lives.

Have a good one! :)

How incredibly sad it must be for you to go through life believing that every man, woman and child is wicked. To never experience the joy of a child's laughter, a mother's embrace or a stranger's kindness. This religious obsession of focusing on an afterlife is causing you to miss out on all the love and beauty that exists in this world. I hope you can discover it before it is too late. Peace.

According to art.#8 sect.#1 in Biblical Exceptions
" Any family member (or proported family member)
spanning 3 times removed or greater ...
shall be considered wicked and in being deemed so..
shall receive any and all punishments necessary to correct any organizational decesions made in the past, present or future
My personal thoughts... noah's inlaws just wanted their daughter to be with someone a little less crazy and a little more responsible than she was..
not really that evil...

Gods pardon? Noah walked with God. He was a godly man. We can overcome our parents evil if we choose to.

Actually, according to several other verses, there never has been, not could be a righteous man. But even if there could be, I'm one of those sticklers who needs specifics, which the Bible conspicuously fails to give regarding the criteria for righteousness.

Each person is judged on their own actions or lack of them, however, God spared Noah's wife (surely Noah found good in her heart) and their sons and their wives because Noah found grace in the sight of The Lord .I would imagine that Noah and his wife tried earnestly to convert his in laws but they wanted to continue in their own unholy but popular ways

Begeting offspring was just about all they had to do since there was no TV, birth control, or financial advisors. The babies just came and it was impossible to tell the wicked little brats from the good little brats.

Noah chose to walk with God. They did not. Free will again. Each man is responsible for HIS OWN sin.

They boys were Noahs. Men were head of the family. Their wives became part of them. They would have 'converted' to theirs husbands beliefs and worshipped as their husbands worshipped and as part of them would be considered righteous with them. Ditto for Mrs Noah. If the family head was righteous all his possessions including women, minor children and slaves were automatically considered righteous. Only the adult men were accountable as they were the family leaders and set the tone for their family.

Oh, well at least the slaves were taken care of. However, the Bible specifically only mentions Noah, his wife, his sons, and their wives getting on the Ark.

I guess the animals were righteous too since they were also possessions.

Reese, I thought you didn't believe the Bible? Why ask about it, if not to ridicule it?
I get it. You are trying to be sly.
Lets get to the issue of Noah's
In-laws. They were included because God was going to restart with a small family. Which is interesting, because according to one geneticist, mankind experienced a genetic bottleneck, where the number of breeding pairs was likely no more than 20. This does not verify a flood, but it does say that mankind has experienced near-extinction in the distant past. But a couple families rebooted the human race, and this time, we succeeded.

this is my answer for you Reesinator:

let us read this first,

Genesis 8:21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

Imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth - this means that people in the time of Noah were doing evil things from their youth and for the rest of their lives. except Noah and also his immediate family maybe because Noah preached them God's wil the reason why they all are saved.

continuation:

and the bible has this to say,

Genesis 6:9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

now, to the question Were Noah's in-laws wicked? the answer is yes. in the sight of God they were because if they were not wicked they were going to help Noah and go inside the ARC. and as per the bible Noah was a just man and perfect in HIS GEMERATIONS, and Noah walked with God and ofcourse we can also include his immediate family.
people in the time of Noah were disobedient, but God waited for them to repent and change their ways but they did not obey God. therefore eight souls were saved by water.

1 Peter 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

now ,,

but God give these people and also Noah's in law chance to salvation because Jesus preached to them the Gospel. it says in the verse that

" 19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;"

let us read,

1 Peter 3:18-20
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

Jesus after his death in flesh went and visit those people who died in the time of Noah, He introduced to them the good news of salvation. therefore God is really good. He is fair to everyone. actually some of these people or spirits of the disobdient people believed in the preaching of the Lord,

let us read,

Ephesians 4:8-10

it says, he led captivity captive, if in laws or relative of Noah still did not believe in God, it is truly their fault.

Ah, you ask a good question. In fact one that applies to all of us and not just the in-laws of Noah's sons. How are any of us who are sinners, and that is all of us, how is it that we are worthy of a pardon and find our way to God? Marrying into the family is not a way to God. It is not Noah's family that was the important thing, but God's family. The Bible teaches that there is only one way and it is not marrying into the family but by God's Grace through Faith in Jesus that results in our being ADOPTED into the family by God (Romans 8). Ephesians 2:8 "For by Grace you are saved through Faith..."

I was going to answer this but after reading some of the comments you've made on others posts I'm having second thoughts. Do you really want an answer or is this just an opportunity to jeer at the faith of others? I honestly don't know and that is why I ask.

Oh that's right. Christians never jeer at non-believers or suggest they are evil for raising perfectly fair questions. But what did I say that was jeering?
Report as
Sarcasm, really? Other "Christians" may jeer at unbelievers but I do not. I didn't accuse you of anything just inquired of your motives. Your sarcastic reply gave me the answer I needed.
Report as
Oh, lighten up! I'm sorry you misinterpreted my jokes, but you needn't be so sensitive. Nobody's jeering at you. Your faith is a multi-billion dollar industry the government refuses to tax. You have missionaries on every continent except Antarctica, and I'm sure that if there were even 2 indigenous people living there, some obscenely rich Christian organization would deploy a platoon of Christ's soldiers in no time. I'm sorry that a pointed, but fair question and some lighthearted chop-busting seems so crass to you, but forgive me if I think that a belief system that demands universal worship of a god who would drown almost every living creature on the planet for UNSPECIFIED purposes can stand to be questioned pointedly.

If they were faithful to God, then I think they would have realized that since their family was as wicked as the rest, they deserved what was coming to them.
