Thoughts on California's new mandate allowing students to choose which gender restroom, locker room, sports team, etc they want to be on?

So what now do we have to hire security guards to guard our children when they use the bathroom!?!? I WILL be homeschooling my kids!

And no I am NOT talking about the scared little "transgender" kids, I am talking about the perverted little punks that take advantage of kids and WILL use this "wonderful" opportunity to attack!!

Report as
In Cali I think they do! When I first heard about this I swore I would yank my kids out of school quicker then you can say home school! I am just waiting for one more signature to happen and apparently it is on his desk waiting, then my kids are homeschooled.

That's exactly right..why can't they just leave some things be?Must we knock down everything?

They want to rip every moral, and commonsense down. This is just the stupidest thing I have ever heard. First marriage, now our children.

just sad really...they are destroying every moral

I know longer feel free. I feel like im living under dictatorship. We voted on the marriage thing. It got over turned by the courts. This thing we haven't even voted on. It's so bad any more.
Report as
Pfft, you think THIS is dictatorship? The US is turning into a police-state all around and you think that giving human beings the right to be their true selves is dictatorship? If anything this is a victory for individual rights.

Really, then why do churches need a permit to do Baptism in lakes? Don't need them to swim, or fish, etc. People use the letter by Franklin separating Church and state backwards. The reason he wrote that letter cause they came over here because they was being pursecuited for religious beliefs. It was for freedom of belief and the government stay out of it. Not the other way around. Why is it then the a woman can't refuse to do a same sex ceremony in NM in 2006 because of her beliefs. She got sued and 1st amendment rights was stomped on. Why do you think the 1st amendment deals with religion? Maybe cause it was the most important. This is a dictatorship. If we vote on it, courts over turn it, what would you call it? They basically saying your vote doesn't count. We are going to rule your life, if you like it or not. Now as far as the bathrooms, that is stupid. Perverts going in the bathroom with my girls. How are we going to tell the perverts from the whatevers? Are they going to keep a gaurd by each bathroom so no girl gets rapp3d? Hmmm

There's a bit more to it than that though - specifically it has to do with allowing people who are transgender (not just any random person) being able to choose which area they are more comfortable in based on their own gender identity. It's a huge step forward in tolerance and understanding for the transgender community. I think all states should have these laws.

I'm sure that others will probably worry for the potential for some to abuse it, but honestly - if someone isn't transgender, they'd probably have a really hard time explaining why they were in the opposite gender's restroom/locker area. I mean yeah, they could do it, but then people would assume that they were transgender, so it doesn't really necessarily work in their favor to try it. Plus if someone is attempting to use the law for malicious purposes (or to exploit), then they'd be prosecuted for that anyways.

This has to be the worst answer I have ever seen you answer! If you lived in Cali and had a child you would not be agreeing!

I live in California with a child and I agree.

yinandyang -

I would 100% agree with this no matter where I live, and my son would have absolutely no problem having to share a restroom or a locker room with someone who was transgender. There is more than just "boy" and "girl" - despite having been narrowly defined as such for so long, there is actually a lot more to it, and not everyone feels comfortable with the gender they were physically born as. And I will always support them in doing what they need to do, to be THEMSELVES, and to not be made to suffer abuse or harassment for being who they need to be.

I think this answer is total garbage, I respect your opinion but completely disagree
Report as
I agree with Sephira. As someone with transgender friends, I think that this sort of law is exactly what they need. One does not choose their sex OR gender, and sometimes they're born with one that doesn't match the other. Transgenders have extremely high rates of depression and suicide compare to the rest of the populace, mostly due to the intolerance and hatred 'normal' people cast upon them. Having a law like this enacted is a huge leap forward.

It's outrageous in my opinion you can't let a guy just because he feels like a girl go in the female washroom or changing area! It's unfair to the women who are subjected to that!

It's not just a case of a guy wakes up one morning and feels like a girl... oh... think I'll go use the women's restroom. These are women - they act like women, dress like women, live their every day lives as women, but may or may not still physically have a penis - depending on if they've been able to have reassignment surgery (or if that's even an option for them). You aren't even going to know that this person is transgender, unless you actually come out point blank and ask to see "the goods" - which no one would do in a normal situation.
Report as
If there is a guy changing in a female locker room it would be pretty obvious it's a guy regardless of how they dress or act. If you are born with a penis you are a man that just how it is, I don't make the rules of nature but they determine what we are and we can't change that by how we act

I think they experiment in Calli to see just how far they can push people with stupidity.
This one is certainly case in point.
Gonna do a question on homeschooling myself.
Taught my own daughter to read. What a high!
