So I'm an artist & I would like to start taking photos or videos of my art but I have no idea what to get? any help would be much appreciated.

I highly recommend Nikon P520. It was rated as the best compact bridge camera in 2012 and 2013. It has a super zoom range of 24 - 1000mm, ISO 80 to 6400, 18.1 mp, 1080p HD video. Price range about $400.00. It is very easy to use, particularly suitable for a beginner in photography.

You would need to specify what your price range is but the cheapest cannon you can get it the Cannon EOS 1100D which is around £300 mark

A good and reliably affordable camera is the Canon 320 HS. It takes nice photographs, and doesn't have a lot of image noise at higher ISOs. The Canon PowerShot A3300 IS is also a great option.

Any Fuji camera, i bought a Cannon before and it took really good pictures for a little over a year, after that it was worthless, then after 2 years it stopped working, if u shop online be sure to read customers reviews and ratings before u buy.

Objectively, here is my idea. Check out cnet.com as they do reviews.( http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/ ). Pick one that is best for your needs. For example- Price, Manufacturer, Zoom range, Digital camera type.Keep in mind some cameras can take movies (and sound), have night vision, and some have a limit on the capacity of the memory card it will take. This is important. I have been using the same SD card for years and the pictures and movies on it are from day one.I back them up now and then and have a spare SD card for a rainy day.I have only have had to replace the battery once and have a spare for use on vacations, theme parks etc.Check out eBay and Amazon for the best price after you pick your dream camera. Good luck and have fun taking pictures and movies.Oh, If you want to take it to the beach or by water you may need to get a case for it.Not all cameras have a case availible to buy and from what I have seen they may be more than the camera.So...No sand.
