A year and a half ago after smashing my finger really bad I am still experiencing numbness and sensitivity and some pain. Is this normal?

my pinky finger got smashed between a large metal door and a brick wall. immediately after I smashed the tip of my finger swelled up two times bigger than normal and turned purple. it was swollen so much so that it was hard as a rock. The next day the color continued down my entire finger and the swelling remained at the tip of my finger.

Your finger most likely didn't heal correctly. It happens to a lot of people...did you try the RICE method.

Rest (your finger)
Ice (your finger)
Compress (your finger every few minutes)
Elevate (your finger above your heart)

You should see a doctor if it keeps hurting....but don't worry it happens to a lot of people.

It's most likely broken. You need to go to a hospital in order to get a splint and medication; as in painkillers.

It's either taking too long to heal cause your using it and not letting it heal properly you should cover it up and let it heal. Or it took serious damage that left some permanent damage
