Weird cat behavior. My cat likes me to press on his foot until it's all the way up to his belly. Why does he want this?
I started doing this because he likes to sleep in my lap on his back or on his side and his foot would twitch or sometimes kick. So I grabbed hold of his foot to calm it. He was sound asleep. It seemed to make him happy so I'd grab it anytime it twitched. I pushed ever so gently one night and he pulled his leg slowly up. I let go because I thought he was trying to take his foot away. He scootched down and put his foot in my hand again and slowly started bringing his leg back up. So I went with it. He relaxed and went back to sleep. After that he will kick at me until I grab hold of his foot. He will kick my hand until I gently push it all the way down as it would be if he were laying on his belly low to the ground. If I don't do it he'll toss and turn and whimper in his sleep. He'll find positions so that his foot will be pressed against my arm. If I let go he will kick until I put my hand back. I don't get it. Is this something I should be worried about, like a sign there might be something wrong with his legs or nerves? Or is this just something comforting to a cat for some reason? I mean, he seems perfectly fine. Anyone know?
