Things are expensive. Prices hoing up all the time. Rents going up. Utilities going up. Food going up. Gas prices going up and up and up. No education means poor paying, minimum wage jobs these days. Its difficult enough for a single person to pay rent and bills on min wage. Add in just one child and the diffuculty level soars. Then theres more food, clothes, toys, day care (which is astronomical), health care, etc. Think: just as example consider if someone makes 8$/hr and works 48hrs/week (a six day week which unlikely but im being generous, most min wage jobs only offer part time). That means just iver 1500$/month befor taxes and about 1100 after taxes. If they are waiting tabkes the might have tips to add. So 1100$/month with a 500$/mnth rent and about 200$/month basic utilities. That leaves 400$ for food, medical, child care, gas, etc for the WHOLE MONTH. THATS poverty. That mother can be working her butt off and still not be able to feed her child or children without help. Without an education youre stuck with low paying jobs that trap you in and endless loop of poverty. What do they do? They get credit cards and payday loans that trap them further in poverty. You get an education, you go to college or at least vo-tech so you can at least get wage jobs that pay 15-20$/hr or better. Go get a good degree that leads to salaried jobs that include medical benefits and can pay the bills and still allow for a little fun.
Not having a proper education shuts people out of finacial opprotunities that an educated person would have, jobs, scholarships. Many ways, but in a nut shell, Jobs. You can be an engineer if you havent gotten a degree and dropped out of highschool.
Umm. Is this a school assignment? I think you and everyone else should know the answer. Look at the adults working at fast food places. There's your answer. Minimum wage cannot sustain you unless its being earned as a secondary income.
