How do I get rid of postpartum depression? I'm scared and so is my husband. I have called the doctor and they said it normal. Please read on

please help me! I'm terrified!

Sweetie...it might be "normal", but it IS NOT NORMAL for a doctor to dismiss you like that. I suffered post partum depression, too. My doctor put me on some meds (temporarily) that really really helped, and it didn't interfere with breast feeding. Either talk to your doctor or get a referral for a doctor that actually cares. I'm so sorry you're going through this, and I hope it gets better soon.
Congratulations on the birth of your child. :)

It's tough...I remember...as I'm sure you do also. It's not right for a doctor to let her suffer like that.

Why would your doctor not do anything about it?

Find another doctor. This one sounds incompetent.

You can call and make an appointment with a psychologist on your own and if he thinks you need meds he can refer you to a psychiatrist. Or just go to a different, more sympathetic doctor.

If you can't get anyone to listen, you could try Pau D Arco herb, it worked well for me.

This depression is very real and you really need to see a doctor to get proper treatment. If your regular doctor will not listen to you, go find someone else, until somebody listens. Take care.

I suffered from
Postpartum depression as well with my second daughter. I was 17 when I had my first and I knew I had her to young and I just turned 19 and had my second daughter. I didn't feel anything at all for her!! It scared the crap out of me. I worked hard to love her and understand, I was all she had and it wasn't her fault she was born. She's 25 yrs old and I love her so much it hurts sometimes!! I didn't go to a dr for help but I knew what was happening ( I work in the medical field)
