I'm a girl, 13 years old, I weigh 189 lbs., 5'5". I wear a size 14 in pants and a size L shirt.

I'm trying to lose weight, and I know I have to change my eating habits first. The problem is, I grew up eating junk food. The only fruits I like are bananas and apples, and the only vegetables I like are corn and broccoli. I only drink water and milk, and no soda or juice. My parents are supporting me. I'm not eating after seven pm. Also, how much weight should I lose to be a healthy weight? I don't want to be skinny, I just want to be healthy.

I think around 145-150 would be your max weight. The problem with junk food is that it is very addictive. You constantly think about it when you can't have it; it's the sugar, salts and chemicals that mess with you. Anyway, like any other addiction, you have to fight it. Other healthy foods may taste strange and odd at first, but the more you eat them, the better your body will feel and soon you will learn to like the taste. Eating healthy will just be something you do on the norm.

As far as the healthy weight for girls, I can't help you there. I can, however suggest you try exploring foods you've never had before, to expand your diet.

You should cut down on sweets and excercise for half an hour each day.

Losing weight can be a hard thing to do. If you can, see your doctor. They can tell you what your daily calorie intake should be and help you. Try playing a sport. It can be fun and you will get exercise. Try and eat 5 small meals a day. Toast and banana for breakfast. Turkey sandwich on wheat bread for lunch. Have some peanuts for snack, eat a nice dinner and then maybe have a small snack around 7.

130-140 lbs. would be a good healthy weight. My question is on your vegetables, how many have other vegetables have you tried? My husband keeps telling me he doesn't like something and then after asking him it is something he has never tried. He eats more veggies now than before. Also try your veggies made in different ways. I don't like cooked spinach but I love it raw in a salad. I know several people who will not eat cooked peas, but they will eat them fresh out of a garden as if they were candy. So try new fruits and veggies in different ways. My husband told me he didn't like zucchini, but when I made lasagna using sliced zucchini instead of noodles he loved it.
